Helena started work on linking between elements of three images, arising out of our proposal. I found that we don't have good instructions for marking up the references between documents; there's some explanation on the Encodage page, but it's not good enough. I need to clarify it. Tested her work, and it's functioning OK (minus a couple of typos she'll fix next week).
Put the proposal in as text and PDF, after adding Claire's new stuff, fleshing out some of my references and tidying up some bits and pieces.

This evening I sent Martin the tweaked conference proposal with three references added (including the famous DeJean article). Helena will work on additional markup of objects, gestures and links for the three "anatomical" engravings (L'invention des femmes and Opérateur céphalique).
Today I gave Helena a copy of my 2002 article on the polemical texts that France already has. I will also make copies for both of a 2003 article by Gilles Banderier that talks about many of the same texts. (He and I both gave papers at the same conference in Nancy, but I was speaking about the religious marriage manuals at the time, rather than these satires.)
Second draft done, and more content coming from Claire. Should be ready for submission by Friday.

Testing the updates on the site, I found that the annotation menus weren't appearing for three files:
bon_menage.xmlcoquette.xmlinvention_des_femmes_1.xml
On further investigation, I discovered that these files had empty annotations (annotations which contained nothing at all, or which had only titles and no content). I fixed this by deleting those which had nothing at all in them, and adding a non-breaking space to those which had a title but no content.
Validated and uploaded all edited files into eXist.
Finished these files:
besace.xmlil_nest_pas_maistre.xmlmye_des_femmes.xml
Updated the server archives, and downloaded files recently edited by the team. Validated them and found a missing <p> tag in femme_a_plaindre.xml, which I fixed and replaced on the server.
There are five more files to prepare in the new batch.

Just a little update of what I've been up to:
I've finished the transcriptions of the xml files prepared up until now. I am noting interesting objects, gestures, vocabulary as I go, but I don't feel equipped to comment on much yet. I've also got my hands on a little bit of literature on marriage in the ancien regime, to give myself a little context.
