With TEH, worked on the ePub project. She's building a test file to see what will work and what won't from our current files. I've added automated download/update of the epubcheck jar file to our static build process, and tested that. I can't yet see a way to pass a batch of files to epubcheck, so it may be the usual one-at-a-time process, but with luck it shouldn't be that onerous because (I think) ant will allow us to avoid instantiating a new vm every time.
Made a start on the last (and hardest) of the four. Long way to go yet.
Now that the required ports are opened up and working for both servers, I decided to see how straightforward it would be to get Let's Encrypt certs set up for the subdomains. The answer turns out to be that it's trivial:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:certbot/certbot sudo apt install python-certbot-apache sudo certbot --apache -d teijenkins.hcmc.uvic.ca sudo certbot renew --dry-run
The certbot did an automated challenge by temporarily tweaking the apache config and testing the tweak; then it downloaded and installed the certs, and even updated the virtual hosts file to point at them. The last line tests the renewal process, which has to happen every three months, and for which certbot has installed a cron job. If that fails, you get an email.
Late duty.
ED's convoluted Python/NTLK stuff for diagnostics just doesn't work on the new Jenkins server, and in any case it seems, as we look at it, that it could perfectly well have been done in XSLT, so SK and I have made a start on figuring out how it works and converting it. It'll take a while, but lesson learned -- don't let people use stuff just because they like it, keep the range of tech limited for any given project.
Spent a lot of the day on minor tweaks to the two Jenkins servers. The https problem on jenkins.hcmc.uvic.ca was a VLAN ACL issue, now fixed by NETS, so it's working OK now. Both machines now have 8GB of RAM, and the disk of the TEI Jenkins has been expanded by 50GB, so that should last for a little while. I haven't yet set up the Apache config on teiJenkins because I wanted to use the opportunity to document it properly, but it's now trying to build jobs (largely failing for various reasons relating to config).
Recorded the final interview with CC, and processed the audio.
Now that Jenkins is able to run the MoEML build again, I've been working on the fallout from the imposition of the new Schematron rules which aim to reduce the number of redundant hi elements. I've had to exclude Stow documents from those rules, because there are too many existing instances awaiting attention from editors who will re-encode them anyway. Fixed a few dozen errors spread across the rest of the collection.
Finished the last article, encoded the editor's intro, and published for proofing. Rebuilt the PDF with new doc order and last doc included, and sent to HT.
