Spent a lot of time today on the name "Ide", which is a good illustration of the wild variation in phonological representation versus kanji for surnames; that's made a para for the paper, but there is one individual case that's proving a thorny one to resolve due to the fact that surname and forename are apparently reversed in the one instance of the name in a city directory, and the fact that the person doesn't show up in either of our community sources for the same year.
As I work out the logic of the various search options, I'm finding more tweaks that I need to do to the XHTML to make it amenable to the search. This will be an ongoing thing. Worked through Chapter 10 and part way through 11. Finished at 11.6, "Macedonia", there is a double reference for it somewhere.
Fixed all places tangle and 1.3.5
Double check Pielus upon update.
Hours: 8:30-3:30 (7)
On late duty.
We'll need to share our XSLT, so I've added it to the site files. Also wrote some (so far untested) functionality in the search XQuery, which remains remarkably simple so far.
Drafted another section, revised some other bits and added supporting data.
Video conference with DH and GL, and follow up with a bunch of fixes to be made to the personography. Discussion with GL afterwards to see what we might do about missing individual pages needed to complete transcription sets.
Updated schedule with latest project user changes.
Received request from RLK to change staff page to reflect same format as faculty index.
Have now made that change for her; republished page and sent confirmation email to RLK task completed.
