4.00 hours: MoEML: Auto-generation of signature numbers in regularized format for all page-breaks in Stow 1598; addition of processing to generate anchors from them, and provision of page contents submenu based on them.

Wednesday 2020-09-09

1.00 hours: Update Jenkins servers; fix issues in various repos and build processes caused by Ubuntu 20.04's requirement for valid certs on svn sources.
1.00 hours: Update local desktop to Ubuntu 20.04, test, fix svn repo paths, reconfigure various things. All servers, desktops and laptop now in sync running 20.04.
0.75 hours: Scancan: Add final page numbers to all vol 27 articles, remove proofing flag, and publish everything. Vol 27 is now completely done.
0.75 hours: MoEML: Checking build outcome from yesterday's work, reporting on it, and checking into a few new tickets.
4.00 hours: DVPP: Discussion/decision on pb tags; XQuery investigation of the state of existing pb tags; writing XSLT to insert missing ones; running XSLT on the first few periodicals, and diagnosing/fixing oddities and errors revealed by the process.

Dr. Kim Blank's widely-admired site Mapping Keats's Progress: a Critical Chronology has reached another milestone, with edition 3.2. This project is a collaboration with HCMC and is a fully Endings-compliant project.

Project Endings, a joint collaboration between the UVic Libraries and HCMC, funded by a SSHRC grant, now has a permanent resting-place for its website, at https://endings.uvic.ca. The site has links to all the presentations and publications coming out of the project, our Endings Principles for Digital Longevity, and news and information on all the related Endings-compliant projects which have been published recently.

I'm using invisible captcha on the form for the museum feedback to prevent spam attacks etc. On form submit the action is a php page which attempts to get_file_contents of the file containing the json object with the captcha info in it.
The problem is that the php.ini file we're relying on for php7 has allow_url_fopen = 0, and I haven't been able to figure out a way to override that in a local php.ini file.
So, I've instead in the .htaccess file I've setEnv UVPHP_VERSION 56, because the php.ini file for php5 has allow_url_fopen = 1. So the get_file_contents method works, so the captcha verification works, so the form submission works and no errors are thrown.
Obviously, if anything happens to cause us to use php7, we've got to solve this problem more elegantly. One possibility is to have javascript do the verification https://developers.google.com/recaptcha/docs/verify or https://stackoverflow.com/questions/51507695/google-recaptcha-v3-example-demo
