Updated some of the site pages in the protected version of the journal to match the external copies maintained on the journal website by the editors. This duplication is annoying, but it should go away if and when the journal is opened up to the world. We're also having preliminary discussions about digitizing old print versions, including the possibility of marking up some of the content.
Wrote the pipelines and flowscript for saving PDF, TEI, NLM 3.0 and NLM 2.3 files to the file system, and created a basic list page which links to the files that are there, so you can create backups and view them.
Next, I want to create the XHTML output, which involves creating a separate folder for each document, and dumping not only the output but also copies of all the CSS, JS and so on into the folder. Then it might be possible to zip the contents of the folder into a zip file.
The backups control page should also be arranged as a table, showing file generation dates, to make it clearer exactly what's happening.
Following the release of IMT 1.8.1.0, I've updated the installations of IMT on R&D desktops (except for the Windows side of the dual-boot machine, which is busy with a Linux dist-upgrade right now). I did an XP SP3 update on one of the machines too.
After discussion with JF, WP and LR, I've made a formal proposal for a TEI SIG to work on proposals for a schema and for some controlled vocabulary lists (for bibliographic item types, and journal contribution types).
Came across this interesting list of biblio item types today: http://vocab.org/biblio/schema. I need to compare this with my list, to provide the basis for discussions on the bibliographic item type list.
Version 1.8.1.0 of the Image Markup Tool has now been released. It's available from the IMT website. This version includes a new feature for automatically checking for updates, a small bugfix, and some updates to documentation.
Attended yesterday's HCMC meeting with EGW, MH, GN, EF (see posting).
Preparing Humanities and Continuing Studies contact information regarding lab use/users requested by end of week for EGW/EF.
Stayed a bit late working on the TEI SIG proposal and surrounding discussion for teiJournal. We'll make the proposal on Friday, assuming there are no major objections to its current format.
Taking more code from the Markin program, I've implemented the update checking routines into the application. I also customized a Nuvola icon to use for the Update action, generated bitmaps for it, and rebuilt the icon dll to include it. Then I coded the PHP page which parses the version info passed to it, and shows customized update information (only the updates done subsequent to the user's version number).
"Check for updates" now seems to be complete and working, so the next stage is to update the documentation -- I think I could mention the update checking on the "Installing and Unistalling" page, and I'll also need to update the version info on the Help file itself. Then I can document the new feature on the updates page itself, build an installer, and do a new release. Should be done by lunchtime tomorrow.
