LB forwarded some error reports from a user, so I fixed the problems and uploaded the changes. They were content errors.
Added the drama markup handlers. Seems to be working OK so far. The slight oddity is the "inline" <p> tag in the XML, which comes after the speaker and stage directions, but mustn't generate any breaks unless it has a preceding-sibling <p> tag.
Finished the rest of the markup, and also standardized the markup of stage directions using the <stage> tag. Here's a full example of this markup:
<cit rend="block">
<q>
</q>
<bibl>247</bibl>
</cit>
The speaker tag will be supplied with a colon in the output; the stage directions will be italicized; and the contents of <p> tags will be rendered directly. I'll move on to the XSLT and FO tomorrow.
I thought we had some missing files in 1847, but it turned out they appear much farther on the reel in CO 305, and past many 1848 files. So, in order figure out the filenames that our site will use as references, i.e., co_305_01_00122r.jpg, I will need to process the images up to the point where the final 1847 images appear.
I am halfway through, as of this writing, and expect that I should be able to complete all of 1847 by Thursday afternoon.
Wed. Sept. 23rd UPDATE:
Just finished the chunk of 1848 documents caught between the penultimate and final 1847 despatches. Resume 1848 image-splitting and processing on file b-233-00266.jpg, in lac-scans / B-233 folder.

Out at the dentists for a bit this morning, then stayed till 4.30 to make up some of the time.
The search filters now include the custom fields, although the search system is not yet doing anything with them. I also revamped the search GUI so that it looks more like the edit layout, which is slightly cleaner, and added the possibility of searching on id with a wildcard (%), meaning you can get a range of records, or a single record, instantly. Now I'm working on documentation (end of the day, too tired to start on the parsing and submission of custom field filter data...).
Fixed a bug in the JavaScript that validates a date string in the formally-structured date fields, so that an empty box is viewed as valid -- previously, if you entered something then deleted it, the box stayed pink (invalid). Also figured out what was causing some of the filter controls to be ignored and others used; I had to modify the MdhRecord object constructor so that it can be called with a parameter that sets all the child MdhRecord fields to usedAsFilter=true, so that all the filters are parsed during the constructor. The search now works completely, and the JavaScript has been updated so that the results that come back are correctly "paged". However, the drop-down settings for total columns and total records to show are still being ignored, so I need to fix that.
