I was creating an htaccess file to restrict access to a folder on nfs.hcmc.uvic.ca. I used BBedit to create the file. It's configurations said it was not include a Byte Order Mark in the file (i.e. encoding was set to UTF-8, and not UTF-8 with BOM). When I uploaded the file to the server and accessed it in the browser I got an internal server error.
Sysadmin checked logs and told me there was a BOM (\xef\xbb\xbf) at the start of the file. That did not appear in BBEdit (even with Show Invisibles enabled).
I opened the file in Nano and no BOM was visible in that editor either. I deleted the file and retyped it from scratch in Nano, and that worked.

Trying to finish stuff before vacation...
The problem conflict file in svn is now fixed (svn resolve [file] --accept theirs-full) and we have a good idea of where we're going after a discussion.
Release day didn't happen due to some last-minute glitches, so it's now been rescheduled, and a comprehensive release plan has been put together in Asana to avoid the stumbles that happened today. We all learned a lot, and it'll go well when we come to do it again in a couple of weeks. Fixed a lot of minor issues and polished off a couple of tickets.

Fixing a bunch of typos and slight annoyances; building out some changes to the home page per PS.
Reorganized a lot of the file folders on the server; fixed the db pointers to match; added some new diagnostics; made the diagnostics more user-friendly and slightly prettier; added lots of documentation to the build process ahead of beginning the generation of TEI and HTML; and lots of other bits and pieces.
Received more new content from PL for site.
Current format not practical using the tabs due to the large amount of content within each tab. Therefore, have created 4 new folders with index pages for each "tabbed information" from previous format.
Kept "old" format until PL reviews.
Sent PL email with my changes and recommendation.
Received "replacement" photos; to be inserted.
