Left a little early.
...on DR's instructions. One update needs to be done over the weekend.
I've revisited the web view of the documents, after realizing that it would be a good idea to allow URL access to specific items in the db, so that you can (for instance) bookmark a particular image. You can now pass the id of a document on in the URI as well as a search string, and get the results of the search as well as a single document, and I've added a link in the display of the item which is a "permanent" link to enable bookmarking.
Finishing guidelines revision draft.
Finished drafting my additional section on electronic documents, and then went back and finished the existing text. Sent it to LR and KH, with a summary of the main changes. It's a relief to get this off my plate for the moment; it was hard work. I've had some feedback from KH, which I've incorporated, and there will presumably be more before the meeting next week.
So far, here's what's important to remember/problems I've encountered:
Searches are done with: %Creon%
Default Place is "a cave in Cyllene", no "blank" option
When I go to add an event, there's a space already entered; it's not a big deal, but it's weird.
It would be really useful to have a way to associate characters and groups with events. Especially in battles, where The Thebans fight The Athenians, and you can't cross-reference who was in what group to associate them with that event.
Has the option of adding a generic oracle as a character been discussed? Often "an oracle predicts" something, and it's important, but it's a random floosy in a cave, so we don't have her as a character. Is this an option?
Just a note, with character-character, if the entry is Sally Suzie Mother, it means Suzie is a mother to Sally.
I can't add citations to the Event/Character/Citation or Group/Character/Citation tables, but I can for the Character/Character/Citation table nor can I manipulate the Event/Place table. Don't know why. Greg fixed it!
Meeting with KSJ and KSW at Govt House to discuss arrangements for the launch in June. Took notes and video of the location, and agreed on some basic plans for AV, foam board visuals etc.
Trying to get MyNDIR to a point where PAB can use it, so I can get back to working on the ColDesp maps. Stymied by the fact that apparently it can't go up on the web for some policy reason, which makes collaboration a bit difficult.
I've now written about half of my new section on electronic references for the revision to the TEI guidelines. It's slow work...
