The issue with Mike Best's old Web pages needing to be hosted on the current English dept site when they should be hosted on his personal account, while redirecting accesses of the old URL, has been solved by Evan, who says all it needed was:

a modification to the .htaccess file at the
root of the english/www folder with the contents of

RedirectMatch Permanent /Faculty/MBHomePage(.*) http://web.uvic.ca/~mbest1$1

This is well worth knowing.
