Server build

Posted by gregster on 22 Apr 2009 in Servers, Activity log

Martin's old dual-proc machine is being reborn as a stonking 64bit server. I've replaced the nasty case that was doing the machine in by degrees (literally, I think. There's a good chance that lack of ventilation was killing components) added a bit of RAM and some extra drives - viola, new server.

I've got all the major components installed (mobo, ps etc) and I'm poised to install the OS. If I go with a root vegetable, I think I'll call it cassava, or maybe pignut. Alternatively, I could call it sandbox or similar.
