Replacing 'a' vowels

In the phonemic and phonetic transcriptions (ie in pron’s), the symbol that is used for the low central vowel is in fact incorrect: the vowel is consistently transcribed as a low back vowel [ɑ] instead of as a central vowel [a]. This is true for stressed and unstressed versions and for retracted and unretracted, stressed and unstressed versions. In the vast majority of cases, the relevant vowel should be the mid central ‘a’, not the back version. This is something that can likely be changed with a global replace, and then Sarah and I will need to check to make sure that there are no cases in the pron’s where we should actually really have the back ‘a’.
