Today I went to the "Service de reproduction" at the Bnf Richelieu site to ask about our missing 12 engravings. The woman I talked with was very helpful, and confirmed my fear that the last email I received in July would lead nowhere, and I that I was correct to come to the Richelieu site in person. I have been given the email and phone number of the specialist in that office, who promises to follow up this time. He repeated what I knew, that the problem was a lost microfilm, so he is going to ask permission to do new photographs himself of each original engraving. The Cabinet des Estampes has lots of these photos or "clichés" but even more images reproduced on microfilm. I think the quality of the digitization is better from the photos, so this is all good news. Permission may be refused for the ones in the "Réserve," however, but at least the situation will be resolved one way or another (though I'm more likely to get a refund if I turn up in person again!).

As for texts, although the stuff I've collected can't be dealt with until I return, I want to keep a log here of what I've sent and plan to send as I move through the last weeks in Paris.

I’m about a quarter of the way through transcribing Parts 7 and 8 of Les agréemens et les chagrins du mariage.

Next week, I hope get a third set of variants for the Cabinet satyrique. I have noted the 1666 changes, and I’ll add 1694 and perhaps even a different 1618 edition.

After that, I'd like to check out some of the 16th-century "popular" (as opposed to humanist or erudite) marriage polemics I've come across to make sure that they are largely from Medieval antecedants as I have supposed.

Then maybe "L'épouse fugitive" that I've dreamed of having for years!
