GUMICH DNS problems

Posted by gregster on 08 Feb 2011 in Activity log

After some very odd behaviour on GUMICH sites we discovered that the registrar for GUMICH domains has reversed the settings we changed last year, meaning a whois query for the three sites shows canadawebhosting as the registered DNS entry.
I logged in to the system and changed the www pointer A record to point to 142.104.6.1 (because an A record apparently needs to be an IP address) - I did this for all the sites.

NOTE: in order to make the changes I *had to* remove an mx record for mail. The existing entries were:
mx1c11.megamailservers.com.
mx2c11.megamailservers.com.
mx3c11.megamailservers.com.
