Duplicate CGWP Profiles

Posted by saraht on 19 May 2016 in Discussion

Sergeant Reginald V. Munday and Private Reginald V Munday. LAC Reference: RG 150,Accession 1992-93/166 Box 6482-32. Regimental Number: 79857

Roderick Herbert McDonald has two separate CGWP profiles. They use a different regimental number and different rank but link to the same attestation papers.

Profile 1: http://www.canadiangreatwarproject.com/searches/soldierDetail.asp?ID=74609
Profile 2: http://www.canadiangreatwarproject.com/searches/soldierDetail.asp?ID=121354

Major Leon Charles Eckenfelder: http://www.canadiangreatwarproject.com/Searches/soldierDetail.asp?ID=142821

Major Leon Charles E. Kenfeld: http://www.canadiangreatwarproject.com/Searches/soldierDetail.asp?ID=142870

These profiles refer to the same man from Trochu, Alberta who joined the French Army in 1914 but contain information from two different articles.

John Jameson (Possible duplicate)

Profile 1: http://www.canadiangreatwarproject.com/Searches/soldierDetail.asp?ID=39097 (2nd Lt)
Profile 2: http://www.canadiangreatwarproject.com/Searches/soldierDetail.asp?ID=126015 (Private)

According to the CWGC only one John Jameson died on August 30 1918 (the date of death listed on both profiles) and he was a second lieutenant. Also only one John Jameson (2Lt.) is buried at Vaulx Hill Cemetery in France where both are listed as being buried. According to the medical discharge certificate in Pvt. John Jameson's digitized service file, he was discharged for a commission in the Imperial Army. So it looks like Private James Jameson became 2Lt. John Jameson before he was KIA.
