Met with Greg JL and MF to confirm plans for future registrars and hosts for various domain names associated with canmys. Discovered that there are two domain registrars involved (sibername and domainpeople). The two primary domain names are registered through sibername (but point at the uvic dns), so at some point we'll apply to transfer those to domainpeople. All the domain names registered through domainpeople are using the synergies Domain Name Servers (or for domains that are unused, the dns at domainpeople). We've got access to change those, but before we actually do, we have to make sure that we're ready to handle the requests on the uvic servers. The specific problem is the email addresses. Greg will arrange with the sys admins how to handle the admin@ feedback@ and webmaster@ email addresses. Backed up the entire set of files on the development server (synergies) to my mac and then backed that up. Backed up the mysql db containing all the development files (Manual's CMS backend) to my mac and backed that up. Renamed a number of the folders in the public folder on the dev server so that any URLs to the old folder names would fail, and added instructions in the htaccess file and a 404.htm file to catch those.
