mysql_real_escape_string before inserting into the DB. After some very odd behaviour on GUMICH sites we discovered that the registrar for GUMICH domains has reversed the settings we changed last year, meaning a whois query for the three sites shows canadawebhosting as the registered DNS entry.
I logged in to the system and changed the www pointer A record to point to 142.104.6.1 (because an A record apparently needs to be an IP address) - I did this for all the sites.
NOTE: in order to make the changes I *had to* remove an mx record for mail. The existing entries were:
mx1c11.megamailservers.com.
mx2c11.megamailservers.com.
mx3c11.megamailservers.com.
A CyberMystère user notified me that some links weren't working (here: http://www.mysteryquests.ca/quests/20/indexfr.html#support).
I found the pdfs in the $homedir/www/quests/20/support/ directory - rather than moving them I copied them to the folder referred to by the link ($homedir/www/quests/20/evaluations/).
The Canadian Mysteries site consists of a production site containing 12 mysteries, a containing shell and 30 mysteryquests; and a database-driven development site. HCMC took over tech support in summer 08. This blog documents work done on the site from Sept 08. Earlier work is documented in the depts blog in posts prepended with CanMys
