It's hard to believe... a changing of the guard in IALLT and in the profession.
I can't imagine a more professional, yet personable person to have worked with. I especially recall your ability to handle sensitive relations with our international colleagues, and your dedication to the objectives of our profession.
Sue and I recall fondly our time with you and Maureen in Japan and Victoria. Maybe in our retirement we'll get up there again.
I wish you the very best in retirement. Put that walker away and have some fun!
Will you be in Victoria the last week in July? I'm coming through on my way from Alaska back to Seattle. Drop me a line email@example.com
I'd love to congratulate you in person!
Surely Peter's still too young to retire! grin. I remember so many of the good times over the years (some involving "beers"), his lovely house and garden (yard) in Victoria as well as the sad times, such as Bob Henderson's death in Hawaii right after being in Victoria. Really enjoy remembering the intro. of the "talking stick", the first Canadians' performance at FLEAT, working with Peter as associate editor of the proceedings volume of that conference and working with him on supporting several of our colleagues for tenure and promotion.
What a valued colleague and friend he has been! I hope he'll still come to IALLTs in the future to keep us all on our toes!
Harold Hendricks has contributed this intriguing video...
We've created a blog on the HCMC blog site for friends and colleagues of Peter Liddell to post messages wishing him well on his upcoming retirement. All comments are welcome. We'll also be posting some pictures of Peter, some embarrassing and some not, as well as photos from his retirement party on April 17.
