Met with SA and AC, and we planned out the next phase, which involves getting page-images available on the Wordpress site. These are the steps (task assigned to me because my work has to be done before SA can get to work):

• Rewrite the rules for file- and folder-naming, and train AC's nominated RA to make sure all new images conform to them.
• Fix and normalize existing file- and folder-naming on vicpoet account on home1t:
  • Move all images into a www/page-images/full subfolder.
  • Lowercase everything
  • Remove trailing " 0001" before ".jpg" (it's pointless)
  • Change dashes and spaces to underscores
  • Fix idiosyncracies in individual folder trees
• Port the same fixes to image file paths in page-images and illustrations fields.
• Copy image links from illustrations field over to page-images (there are only 12).
• Run link checker and assign RA to fix broken links.
• Write an ImageMagick script which checks for thumbnails, and where they don't exist, creates them in a parallel folder structure (www/page-images/thumb).
• Run the script on the server, niced appropriately, to create the initial set of thumbnails.
• Set it to run periodically (chron job?)
• (SA) Update the WordPress plugin so that when retrieving a poem it also retrieves image links, and displays them as thumbnails, linked to full-size images.

We also discussed research components for the future grant application: automated rhyme-scheme detection, automated meter detection, and genre detection.

Looking at the Graves Diary project to plan the next phase and a cooperative venture with Trinity Dublin, noticed a couple of bugs:

• Access to log entries is broken due to an ambiguous rule match in XSLT. That's one for me to fix.
• Searching with accented characters is broken. This is not our problem; it's caused by the Apache connector, because when searching through the Pear URI everything works fine. Similarly, everything works OK in Scancan, so presumably the virtual hosts for these two projects are set up differently, and the fix should be obvious.

SA reported to me that the triggers for the VPN database, which update the poem_search table whenever records are edited or created, were not working. It looks like the triggers and procedures have vanished from not only the live database (vpn), but the development one as well (vpn_dev). So, I need to sift through the blog posts and put in the proper procedures.

EDIT: This is no longer necessary, as JW has moved the records manually (there were only four).

Did a relatively simple change requested by JW, but there's one more request that's a bit tricky because it involves migrating a field from one table to another, and there are many linked records in other tables:

Move the first option in the ‘Manifesto content’ tab, called “Discourse of king unaware, evil councillors” to the ‘Approach’ tab 

This shouldn't be rushed, and I don't have time for it right now.

Met with PAB and looked at work that needs to be done on the site. She has more articles and audio to find and process, but meanwhile there are a number of things I can be doing:

• Add the photo to ragnheidur_nordholm_01.php. The picture is in media/photos.
• Add the photo to batey_stewart_01.php, from the same location.
• Add the photo to juliusdottir_01.php, from the same location.
• Mark up and post the two Driscoll articles in media/article, including a picture for each.
• Mark up and post the new Sturla material in INCOMING (an article, an audio interview, and a paper interview).

I'm thinking that it *might* be the -- in the name. No other country names cause problems.

Bug report: if I run a search like this:
"Tower of Winds" two things happen.
1) the search box does not reflect my search terms (it should)
2) it doesn't search for the complete phrase (it should)

If I do this:
+tower+of+winds the search box DOES reflect my search (that is, it prints +tower+of+winds back in to the search field), but it does NOT find all words.

It also seems to be case-sensitive now. Grr.

I need to look at the SQL being generated, obviously.

Streets:
- the labels for the streets are not appearing whether I include them in the labels group or put them in their own street-labels group
- if I click on a street I don't get its info, unless I click on a very precise location (?centre pixel of street polygon or label), but if I select a rectangle, I get info on all the streets contained.

Meeting with L.A., resulting in the following task to be done tomorrow:

Make these changes to the Hispanital site:

1. Create a new page for Course Materials.
2. Link that page from a new top-level menu item at the bottom of the current menu.
3. Put one link on the page, to the items below.
4. Grab all content from span250.zip (in the root of the site on your HD), and put it in a subfolder span250.
5. Tidy up the index page so that Show/Hide works intuitively for the individual items (click to show, click again to hide).
