FrancoToile

The goal is to have http://francotoile2.uvic.ca/index.xql point to http://pear.hcmc.uvic.ca:8081/francotoile/francotoile/index.xql .

Currently, points to http://francotoile2.uvic.ca/francotoile/francotoile/index.xql . I haven't been able to accomplish this at the eXIst level; this may need to be done in either Tomcat or Apache.

I've tried the following things in francotoile/WEB-INF/controller-config.xml with no success:

• Changing this:

  <root pattern="/francotoile" path="xmldb:exist:///db/francotoile"/>
  

  To this:

  <root pattern="/" path="xmldb:exist:///db/francotoile"/>
  

• Commenting out all <root pattern...> elements and adding this:

  <root server-name="francotoile2.uvic.ca" pattern="/*" path="xmldb:exist:///db/org/site1/"/>
  

one test file (Antoine secf2) (at least) fails to unescape the html entity for apostrophes one test file (Dwayn aslf1) has something about the data that is causing the xml parser in ajax_search.php big problems (maybe apostrophes).

The single-page search in FrancoToile generates error messages. I need to fix that. Also, I suspect there are still problems with IE stretching the bg images and displaying the word "events".

Met with Catherine on FranctoToile, she asked about:
- putting a .htaccess file on the site
- limiting access to all netlinkIDs AND 1 made-up user name
- allowing empty search string in the advanced search interface (so users could find e.g. all transcripts of females regardless of what those transcripts contained)
- whether we should break the collection up into subcollections, what the names for each of those sub-collections should be (possibly continents), and whether we'd then want to include an additional field in the xml data files relating with that piece of information in it.
- changing the word "Watch" to "Browse" in the English interface.

to install an instance of eXist on the local computer put the FrancoToile data into it get the site on the localhost to successfully address that instance of the eXist db

Add french text strings based on list provided by Catherine Diagnose problem with IE6 not displaying the banner graphics and buttons properly. Confirm how location and origin dropdowns are populated and update list of values for those lists Apostrophe in search box causes error. Check into code that is switching images on home page and see if that can be invoked on each page load.

Include more images in the cycling, randomly choose a different one every time page is loaded. Test layout in IE.

Right now references and notes are handled identically in data files. I need to go through data files and figure out distinct ways for handling each.

Include some or all of city, region/province/state, country (comma separated)

values in the drop-down include only countries and regions/provinces/states (but data file contains town in case that's wanted later). Catherine needs to provide those values to Stewart for inclusion in the drop-down.

search page already looks for "includes" rather than "="

Finished annotation for all transcripts except Mousses. We will post the Mousses videos and transcripts as such for now. MC finished encoding prmf2, prmf1, pscf1, accf1. These files are ready to go as well as ancf1 and ancf2. Back in one week. CC
